Terrible port

This port is simply awful. The controls are terrible and just trying to play through the first room is a huge chore. If youre going to bring back an old game, either update it or come up with a realistic control scheme for mobile devices. As it stands now its a waste of a dollar.

Do not buy for a iphone 4S or older

As a previous review said, there is no way to even begin a game because the confirmation buttons are hidden on the smaller screen.

A shame

Cant get past the intro screens on my iPad mini.

I cant play

I have iphone 4s , ios 7.1.1 and i cant play game

Need support for 4S at least.

For all coders around... This is the BEST example to how to F.U.C.K a old game, terrible controls, absolute no support for old devices like 4S and also POOR tech support, I loose a dollar on this piece of

Exact port of the original, which should be a good thing....

Its a direct port. Looks exactly like the original. It controls like the original, except a keyboard is much easier to use than a touch screen. It needs some updates to make the game controllable. Fights are really difficult and sometimes buttons get "stuck". The game was difficult back in the day, but you could control the characters. With a proper control update this game will be a nice trip down memory lane. Please update!

Please fix controls!

I was excited to purchase this game but its pretty unplayable. I would have paid a bit more for a more polished game which controls better and is less choppy. Its just a lazy port of the original game.

Need mfi/ Bluetooth controller compatible

Get it to work with Bluetooth controller and this will be a perfect game... Hard to play with fingers... This game wasnt meant to be played with fingers

S+ for initiative. About performance issues:

At first I want you to have my sincere thanks for bringing this old but very important for its genre game on iOS. But still this port needs some serious improvements. Here are some great suggestions what to fix: - Do something about controls. Make them more adequate. I know you are trying to keep the game the way it was back in 1992, but ,since its not MS-DOS(PC), I dont think people will complain about few new buttons that would replace some "older" ones. That especially goes to the combat part, which is very complicated with touch screen. Not to mention the "sticking" moment. Also make menu buttons tappable, not controlled by arrow buttons. If that means youll have to change menus layout, then do it. Just keep the art style. Again, this is not PC. - Would be nice if you could bring back the details of all 3D objects. Here they have less of them than in PC version. - Fix the music. Some of music tracks play where they are not supposed to. Music in the beginning actually plays when the doors of Derceto close once Edward/Emily go through them. - It also would be great if you could add voices that read texts(character info, letters, books, notes) For now that is all. I sincerely ask you to consider all these moments and do something about them. Thank you for understanding!

Great port

This is a great port for a great game! I love the way the menu screens work like the PC original. My only very minor complaint that Is more or less a preference is that the 3d models dont have that pixelation to them like the original 3d models did. I would like if you guys did that. Other than that, great port!

Great old survival horror/puzzle game

Playable on the iPad. The original game had pretty hard controls. And its even harder on the iPad mostly because the controller "button" has to be pressed by multiple fingers to be effective. The double tap to run is very hard to do on a touch screen. Also to turn while running you cannot slide your thumb to the side buttons to turn. You can use a second finger to press the left or right buttons, and that makes the game at least playable. But I imagine that would be too difficult to do on an iPhone. If they lengthened the double tap to run just a bit.. And made it so that the controls would let you turn with a single finger, then this port would be excellent. I still had fun with it. This was probably the first survival horror game ever. And lead to the games like resident evil.

Too glitchy

I was really excited when I saw this game was on the AppStore—I used to play it back when I was a kid. However, it glitches all over the place: you drop an object on the floor, try to pick it up again and it won’t work. It’s frustrating. Also, the game crashes every 30 minutes or so. It was a great idea to port AiTD to iOS, but it needs more work. I stopped playing the game because I was frustrated by these issues.

Fantastic Translation of a Legend

This port, preserving the original, iconic DOS game, is wonderful in so many ways. After all these years, I finally have a way to carry my favorite game with me anywhere I go. Thank you, Atari! Please port the two sequels as well. I would be thrilled to purchase and play them on my iPhone!

Great game, horrible port

The game is still as great as it used to be some 20 years ago. Still gives the same shivers! But the port for ipad makes it even clumsier than it was on computers back then. Ive never seen a glitchier port. 3 stars for the game, but -3 for the port.

Old School Goodness

Ive always wanted to play this game and now I finally can thanks to iOS, Ive just started playing this game but I really like it and I cant wait until they come out with the other two sequels to the series so I dont have to play them on old doors computers or PlayStation one or 3do emulator.

Ignore the bad reviews

This game is fantastic on my iPhone 5 and my only problem is sometimes it goes to a black screen. Other than that its a great port of the classic, a lot of people complain about controls but it was a MSDOS game what can you expect?

Ignore Antwon la great.

Crippled controls ruin a PC classic. Sorry, but not being able to turn AND move at the same time seriously hinders you in this inferior port. Thats something that could be EASILY achieved in the DOS version.

Ridiculous Glitches

The lantern is the only item that illuminates a dark room. So if it runs out of fuel when its on the floor, you cant pick it back up. 2 hours of gameplay wasted because of this crap.

Great idea, horrible controls

I love this game. First PC game I ever played. But I cant play this one... The controls are terrible. Change the controls!

Thank you!!!

You have no idea how happy I am that you brought this game back to life as an app!!! This is a classic! I love playing it!!!
