Awesome

Alone awesome then awesome now, please make part 2 on app!!! Make part 2!!!!

Unplayable.

The game is a masterpiece, we all know that; this port however is an abomination, mostly because you just cant play it. This seems like a high school project, no real effort was made here, these controls are unacceptable, theyre a slap on the face to every single one who buys it.

Excellent game!!!!

Amazing game based on H.P. Lovecrafts "Call of Cthulhu" horror universe... I do hope they will bring the sequels (AITD2 and AITD3) on iPad soon...

Messy controls, glitches

Im a big fan of the original game, and I really wanted to like this port. Problem is, this is not a game thats easy to translate to iOS. The controls are awkward, but the worst part is the broken "sprint" function. Good luck trying to get it to work, because theres no consistency to when it does. It works when it wants to. The glitches arent major, but are enough to distract you from the game. Overall, this could be a great port, but the messy controls almost ruin the experience.

Alone in the Dark iOS

The virtual directional pad seems to not respond well on my iPhone 5S but it worked much better when I tried the game on my iPad.

Needs UI update

Im spending more time trying to manage the poor control interface than to be able to enjoy a cult classic. This app needs work immediately because as it stands right now it is a failure of what a game is supposed to be. Its not fair to release this game for iOS when its a poor port. We might as well play it on a different system that can manage controls better. Learn from other games as a example on how to make a better control interface. Bioshock pulled it off well. It would be easier if you could at least resize the dpad and to make your character perform a action just by pressing the right side of the screen instead of having to hit a tiny context sensitive icon. It doesnt make any sense. To the people who ported this game, fix it.

Literally want my money back

I am a huge fan of retro dos games. Also big fan of Alone in dark series. I was very excited with this ported version and purchased it. However, it was huge disappointment for me. UI and controls wouldnt be worse. I couldnt even play the game. If you want to play this game, just simply find a pc and install dos and play over there.

Super disappointing!

At first this game looks like the one we all know and love from our childhood. I was ecstatic to play through it. Then you realize the controls are even worse than they have ever been. The controls render the game unplayable and need a fix desperately. Until then, dont waste your money.

Lots of glitches

You cannot end this game because there is a glitch in the dark room, you cannot take the very heavy statuet. Then you are not able to take the sword and proceed in the game.

Almost perfect port...

I love these games!!! As a kid, I spent countless nights getting lost in the world of Alone in the dark! With that said, it is awesome to be able to play this game whenever I want but the only thing keeping this game from being perfect and a 5 star game are three things: 1) a run button. I tried everything I could think of to get them to run and cant get that magic to happen. 2) an 8 direction movement pad. I think this would smooth or make it possible to, walk or run around obstacles. Seems I have to walk, stop, turn and resume walking. 3) the voice over track for everything included in the CD-ROM version of the game. I really miss the voice over tracks! The voice acting was perfect for the game! I would be willing to pay more for these three updates and would LOVE to see the other 2 sequels added to the App Store!!! Please make these things happen and take my money!!!!!!!
